Boys Will Be Boys

Good morning all!

With my latest card I thought I could use my brick and men embellishments I mentioned in my earlier post to go on it, have not done so yet as I only just thought about it, but will do! Also this is the first card that I have made that is solely for kids, or for big kids :-)  I do not seem to have many stamps that are for children and am hoping Stampin' Up! will produce some more, there is a new catalogue coming out in June so cannot wait to see what is in it.

I was looking at Pinterest, again, and got some ideas regarding the use of opaque embossing powders on black card. I had never really thought you could get colours that are opaque as all of my embossing powders were translucent on coloured card and very pale. However, I saw this and thought I must go online and see, and there you have it brightly coloured powders in green, yellow, glow in the dark, blue, etc all in opaque colours I was in heaven! So I purchased a few and as you see above there is one of my creations, I have no doubt though you will see more from these embossing powders he he cannot wait and watch this space...

So all the stamps I used (Robot, Bricks and Sentiment) were all from the Boys Will Be Boys Wood Mount Stamp Set and can be purchased on the below link:

Balloon Celebration & Balloon Punch Bundle

Hello again!

Sorry it has been overdue for a post but I have been busy getting creative so that I could have something to post :-)

I got the Balloon Celebration & Balloon Punch Bundle the other day, well I got the stamps a week or so ago but had to wait for the punch as it was on back order but I finally received it!

So when I was looking at this stamp set I was thinking I wanted something that could be given to kids as well as adults, so I thought I would use the Brushstrokes background stamp as I thought it looked a bit like a fairground, maybe I had that idea from the latest episode of Extant I was watching at the time anyways, I used sponge daubers to get the two different colours on the same stamp.

I am still stuck with using the inks from the Subtles set as they are still my fave at the moment so used these on my cards. The balloons were punched from the coordinating colour cardstock and stamped with the dotty image from the Balloon Celebration stamp set. I used dimensionals to get the height on some of the balloons and the sentiments are also from the set apart from the Happy Birthday that comes from Boys Will Be Boys stamp set. Then I just added a few embellishments here and there, I love my rhinestones and candy dots so they always go on at least one card!

Melting Pot & Embossing Powders!

Hellooooo

This is going a little bit off topic from stamping but I dug out my Melting Pot from underneath all my cardstock and decided to do a little melt embossing.

I had ordered some new moulds a while ago and wanted to give them a go, having a 5 month old does not give me much time for stuff like that as it is quite a time consuming hobby but my lovely husband gave me some time to myself whilst he looked after the little one for a couple of hours, so I managed to get a lot done!

I had some moulds that looked like lego men and bricks and making embossing liquid colours of blue and red to fill them was fun and they turned out looking quite good. I also put some key ring chains that I had spare into some of them so hopefully they are held in firmly.

I also found some gold and silver embossing powder that I had in my stash so thought wouldn't it be cool to have some lego pieces in these colours and I think they look brilliant.

I also have some flower moulds so poured the excess liquid into these, which turned out really nice and will glue them and make them into rings and brooches. I love the idea of making my own jewellery and the reason I made the bricks, men and flower pieces is that I can use them as embellishments on my cards, which no other cards will have.

Anyways until next time :-) ...

Light Box!

Good morning!

I have been looking around pinterest for inspiration and found that many people's photos of their creations look quite professional, I mean they either have their name on the photo and/or their background looks quite bright and shows off their card perfectly, no pair of scissors or a pot of glue in the background.
Based on the above I have already figured out how to do the watermark on the photo with my name and website on it but now I have created my own light box to improve my photo taking!

I still do not have a desk lamp or anything to shine more light onto the card, just have to make do with the ceiling light but I have improved the background, I think my cards seem to show up better now, and I managed to find a cheap plastic stand/easel from Hobbycraft to help angle the card correctly.

I used one of the boxes that I get from my weekly UPS man from my Stampin' Up goodies he he. I cut off the top and the front and pasted loads of white paper inside of the box, and that was pretty much it and could not believe how much of a difference it made, and happy with my creation.

Anyways the above cards are just another example of the many uses of the Definitely Dahlia Stamp, however I am considering embossing it with embossing powder onto black card as I am intrigued of how that would turn out as I have been doing a few cards with black card and bright WOW embossing powder so when I do I will let you know how that turns out!

That's it for now but I have been busy so will hopefully be on here again to update with more card pics...

Hello...

Hello everyone,

I have just been playing with the Sale-a-Bration stamps recently and decided to have a go with the 'Hello' stamp and watercolouring.

I stamped the 'Hello' free stamp with Versamark embossing ink onto watercolour card and heat embossed it with White Embossing Powder, then used the Aqua Painter and dipped them into the coloured ink pads and painted over the Hello. It's a nice quick way of getting a watercolour effect without all the hassle of paints, palettes, and water pots.

I then mounted it onto Sweet Lil Things Designer Paper and onto A6 cardstock.

The 'Hello' Wood-Mount Stamp Set is free during Sale-a-Bration when you spend over £45 online, and this offer is only available until 31st March 2016.

Easter card

Good morning all,

I have done a quick card for Easter, I have never really done an Easter card before so this is a first for me.

This was all I could come up with for now, especially having a little one that takes up most of my time, but I have also been making other cards for my mum to sell at her craft fair in July.

Anyways for this card I used Blushing Bride with the Watercolour Wash stamp for the background and then used Old Olive for the ground colour and in the card stock for the banner. The flowers are from the Petite Petals stamp set and the chick is from the Honeycomb Happiness stamp set that you can get for free during Sale-a-Bration when you spend over £45 online.
